I know of no way to install the drivers without the IDT control panel because even if your right click install from device manager on the driver archives contents, the IDT Control Panel still ends up being installed (although under Win 7, this won't give you a listing under programs you can uninstall - unlike an installation performed by running the drivers exe file).

The best way to have a dual boot PC (if you really must) is to have each OS installed on its own HDD and choose OS's by selecting in the BIOS, which drive to boot from by moving it up the boot priority list. As the same driver package installs for both OSs (possibly with files of a common name for both OS's sharing similar locations), I suspect some driver mix ups are occurring due to dual booting.
My hunch is if you install only XP and its drivers, the sound problems will go away. I suspect your problems under XP might be associated with the fact you've only ever had XP in a dual boot scenario on this PC. Now how do i fix this?! someway to install the drivers only without the idt control panel in windows xp? Maybe the drivers are ok for even XP, it is just the way dolby is integrated which is causing the problems. Windows 7 IDT control centre doesnt have the dolby settings integrated maybe thts why it has no latency problem. the settings are dolby virtualisation of headphones and prologix II option in windows xp IDT control centre. the problem can be played around with the dolby control area of IDT control panel.

but with only 1 playing, either vlc or youtube the latencies spike.Įdit update i played around with a fresh os install after formatting.
playing vlc+youtube simultaneously =normal latency. its interesting that when i play 2 audio sources then latency spikes go away i.e. Using anything wmp11 or vlc or youtube video or even OS sounds produce a slight crackle and spike the latency in windows xp.

What player software is this using and what codecs were installed (to play what types of files)? That worked flawlessly and is still working flawlessly in dual boot config. Single boot was with windows 7 圆4 previously. Were the skipping problems present on a single boot fresh install with no latency checking software installed?
You shouldn't need to install latency software to tell you whether the audio function is working properly - you can hear this. So it's always behaved this way - even with a simple (single boot) OS back in the beginning? Is it possible to somehow install win7 drivers in winxp sp3 since they are working fine? I didnt make any changes to the system, it is working well in all respects except this, which ive narrowed down to be a idt driver issue on xp. I know its a mature product and so don't expect to see half efficient drivers even when warranty period expires 3 years later! I have to use xp sp3 most of the time for professional reasons (since last week) so i would want this fixed instead of rebooting into win7 to hear a few songs. I was trying different drivers here but couldnt get them to install, windows said the best drivers were already installed. So there is a link to Winxp sp3 audio drivers In real world scenario i get slight skipping sounds (easily noticed if you pay attention) and when that happens the latency was up too if you check the program. The DPC program doesnt show any problems in windows 7圆4, so i assume the problem is winxp sp3 x86 audio drivers. The only external device attached to the motherboard audio system are my audiophile quality headphones.
